You might catch the colourful Richtersberg flowers in bloom, along with the Namaqua Flowers in the Goegap Reserve.

Trail Details

Distance: 910 kilometres, with 640 kilometres off-road.
Vehicle needs: A 4x4 vehicle with high ground clearance and low-range capability is required. You can bring 4x4 trailers and caravans, but be prepared for deep sand.
Fuel Needs: Your vehicle should have a range of at least 550 kilometres, ideally 750 kilometres.
Self-Sufficiency: Be ready for five days without fuel, groceries, or water.
Start and End: Springbok

Itinerary

Day 1 - Springbok to Richtersveld Wilderness
Start your adventure in Springbok, then make your way through Vioolsdrift and Kotzeshoop, soaking in the scenic views along the route.

Day 2 - Richtersveld Wilderness to Sendelingsdrift Camp
Begin the day on the Richtersveld Eco Trail. For the adventurous, take on the optional Swartberg 4x4 Loop. Continue your exploration through Helskloof Pass (Noordoever), marvel at the unique Halfmens Trees, and visit Eksteenfontein and Tierhoek.

Day 3 - Sendelingsdrift Camp to De Hoop Bush Camp
Discover the wonder of Wondergat before entering the Richtersveld National Park. At Sendelingsdrift, admire the Hand of God formation. As you travel, embrace the serene yet rugged landscapes.

Day 4 - De Hoop Bush Camp
Take the opportunity to embark on an optional 4x4 loop or simply unwind at the camp, enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

Day 5 - De Hoop Bush Camp to Glybank Camp
Navigate your way through Domorogh Pass and Helskloof Pass before exiting Richtersveld National Park. Don’t miss the fascinating Whale Rock along your path.

Day 6 - Glybank Camp to McDougals Camp
Visit the captivating Bakraans Cave and experience the unique landscape of Ice Cream Valley.

Day 7- McDougals Camp to Goegap
Stop in Steinkopf and refuel and restock supplies in Springbok. Consider the optional 4x4 Flower Loop for a burst of colour in your journey.

Day 8 – Goegap
Take your time to depart at your leisure, marking the end of your memorable tour.
